The Pirates of Penzance is an operetta that originally premiered in 1879. For more than a century, audiences have delighted in the clever lyrics and sharp satire of this tale of a simple lad whose devotion to his own "sense of duty" sets in motion a plot of pure silliness. Among the most famous of the Gilbert and Sullivan operettas, The Pirates of Penzance blends sung and spoken dialogue, making it closer to a Broadway-style show than a traditional grand opera.听

鈥淭his show has something for everyone. That鈥檚 why it has maintained its popularity for over 100 years. There鈥檚 very silly comedy, great music, and clever satire,鈥 says Dr. Carlton Kilpatrick, Asst. Professor of Music and director of the show. 听听听听
